| Original text | Ο Μπάλλος χορεύεται όπως και στ' άλλα νησιά. Η μόνη διαφορά είναι ο τρόπος που πιάνονται οι χορευτές. Το αριστερό χέρι της ντάμας πιάνει πάνω από τον αριστερό ώμο του νέου, το αριστερό του χέρι. Και το δεξί της πιάνει το δεξί του. Οπως είναι πιασμένοι χορεύουν με βήματα μπροστά και πίσω. Χωρίς να αφήσουν τα χέρια καθόλου κάνουν στροφές προς τα μέσα, (όπως στην Κύθνο) αλλά σε αργό ρυθμό. Επειτα πιάνονται μόνο με το δεξί τους χέρι και η ντάμα κάνει στροφές στο ίδιο μέρος. Κρατιούνται απ' το μαντήλι της ντάμας. Μετά χωρίζουν και χορεύουν ο ένας απέναντι στον άλλο και η ντάμα κρατά το μαντήλι χαμηλά με τα δυο της χέρια. |
| English translation | Mpallos is danced on all islands. The only difference is the way in which the dancers hold each other. The left hand of the lady holds the left hand of the lad from above his left shoulder. The right hand holds his right hand. Thusly holding each other, they dance with steps back and forth. Without letting each other’s hands go, they turn inwards (like in Kythnos), but in a slow rhythm. They grab each other only with their right hands and the lady makes turns towards the same spot. They hold each other by her kerchief. Afterwards they set apart and dance opposite each other, and the lady holds the kerchief low, with both of her hands. |
